Acquisitions

Many businesses make acquisitions in order to:-

  • Expand rapidly
  • Access new markets, products & geographical locations
  • Remove a competitor
  • Secure continuity of supply
  • Gain critical mass

All acquisitions should be made to increase shareholder value although sadly research has indicated too few acquisitions do actually add value. It is therefore critical the right advisers and strategy are in place to ensure value is added.

Over a number of years we have assisted clients in acquiring businesses. These acquisitions have ranged from highly profitable and well run businesses to those that were distressed. We are well versed with the procedure and associated timescale of buying from Administrators.

We work with clients to develop their growth strategy. Once a client has decided to make an acquisition we:-

  • Fully research the market and identify suitable targets. We are well connected with:-
    • Business brokers
    • Other corporate finance advisers; and
    • We track a number of businesses that we are know are either for sale of considering a sale.
  • Approach the targets on an anonymous basis thus initially maintaining the clients anonymity
  • Negotiate the terms with the target business;
  • Scope and conduct any due diligence required, subject to managing any conflicts of interest
  • Raise any finance necessary to complete the acquisition

WMT fully manage the acquisition process and are well connected with all relevant funders, including Asset Backed Lenders (ABLs), banks, venture capital, private equity houses and High Net Worth Individuals.

Furthermore, as WMT work on both acquisitions and disposals, we understand the psychology of the other side which assists in getting the deal done.

Our role does not stop at completion; we continue to assist the new enlarged group with post integration planning and implementation.
